Greetings, my name's Tony
Dennison.....
I'm dee drummer-man! |
I've been fascinated with drumming for as long as I can remember. Whenever Top Of The Pops was on in the 60s (yes I know I don't look old enough to have been around then - haha!), I was never very concerned with what the guitarists or vocalists were up to, it was always the beat and how it was created etc that got my attention.
I used to pretend I was Ringo on Saturday mornings when my parents were at work; using my mum's knitting needles as drumsticks......she often wondered why the varnish on the old armchairs was in such a bad way!!
Although the Beatles were my main musical interest in that decade, I was introduced to a lot of 'progressive' and blues bands as well including Santana, Savoy Brown, John Mayall, East Of Eden, Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack, Cream etc which greatly interested me.
Finally got a REAL drum-kit in the mid-80s and after a year or two was (luckily) asked to join the 'Rhythm Method' (Andy Smith was already in this band) when they heard that I was familiar with many of the songs they were doing. This band went though numerous changes and evolved into 'The Call' which is running in parallel with Fade2Black.
Fade2Black has given me the opportunity to develop a style of drumming which I've dabbled with over the years and hopefully I'm able to add a little of myself to the band's overall sound.
Drummers I admire: Mark Brzezicki, Ringo Starr, Steve Gadd, Jim Gordon.
